About

Academic profile

I am an interdisciplinary researcher with training in clinical pharmacy and current expertise in statistical genetics and applied bioinformatics for the analysis of large-scale genomic and health data. My research focuses on computational and statistical methods for complex human disease, with particular emphasis on polygenic modelling, fine-mapping, gene–environment analyses, and reproducible analysis of large-scale genomic and register-based data. I combine method-oriented quantitative research with translational interpretation of biological and clinical questions, and I have active teaching experience in applied data analysis and programming, including PhD-level instruction in R.

Background

My path into statistical genetics started in clinical practice. I trained as a pharmacist (Pharm.D., Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, 2010–2016) and worked as a clinical pharmacist at Alzahra Hospital while completing a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy (2016–2023). During that time my interests moved toward the quantitative and computational side of health research, which led me to a visiting researcher position at the Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG), Aarhus University, in 2022. I have been based in Aarhus ever since, joining the National Centre for Register-based Research (NCRR) as a postdoctoral researcher in June 2024. This background is part of why I care about keeping statistical and computational work connected to the underlying clinical and biological questions.

Teaching

I am course developer, course leader, and instructor for Basic R (PhD level) at Aarhus University — responsible for course design, teaching materials, and delivery. The course was first offered in 2026, with deliveries in April and December. I also lead and teach Advanced R (PhD level), an established PhD course at Aarhus University, from 2026.

I completed the University Pedagogical Programme at Aarhus University in spring 2026.

Earlier in my career I was a teaching assistant in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Community Pharmacy Practice at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (2017–2021).

Supervision and mentoring

I am currently co-supervising three PhD research projects in statistical genetics and epidemiology at Aarhus University. Previously, I co-supervised five PharmD and PhD projects on drug safety, dialysis outcomes, and depression in diabetes.

Honors and service

I received the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) Fellowship for European Countries in 2025, and was nominated for the ESHG Best Poster Award the same year. In 2020, I ranked first in the Clinical Pharmacy Board Examination.

I regularly review for journals spanning genetics and pharmacy practice, including Brain Communications, Scientific Reports, and the Journal of Research in Pharmacy Practice, and I contribute to academic organisation and collaborative research activities within the Aarhus University research environment.
